Recently, I was flipping through some old files when I found these beauties. They are embroidery samples from Phoenix Hand Embroidery. Anyone working in fashion design in NYC before 2008 remembers Phoenix- they were the gold standard for exquisite embroidery and embellishments, counting elite fashion houses like Stella McCartney and Lanvin as clients. Unfortunately, it closed it’s doors for good back in 2008, with owner Ranjana Khan citing “burn-out” as her reason for closing shop. The designer, and spouse of Naeem Khan, now focuses solely on her jewelry line, which is also pretty exquisite. But I wanted to share these little treasures as they are just so beautiful. My favorite is the pink paillettes hand-stitched in rows on the nude backing- just gorgeous.
